Happy New Year!!!!!!

Looking back on 2008- I am thankful for so many things.

I am thankful for my beans. I am thankful that, during hurricane Ike, I had my Evan bean to comfort me. I am thankful for the cat blogosphere and all the amazing cats I have met as a result of my blogging. I am thankful for Cat Chow and Temptations. I am thankful for patches of sun to sleep in. I am thankful for the foot of the bed. I am thankful for heaters to keep my furs warm. I am thankful for scratches behind my ears and under my chin. I am thankful for all the amazing beans of the world who adopt sweet kitties and wolfies who need a forever home.

Tuxie Tummy Tuesday

Happy Tuxie Tummy Tuesday! I was just laying here all lazily on the bed and my Rachel bean decided to get a yummy belly shot for y'all. I just love being lazy during the day. As they say "Every dog has his day-but the nights are reserved for the cats" How true. Nighttime is the best time to hunt and be fierce! Nighttime is the best time to chomp food loudly and meow in beans ears. Nighttime is the best time to paw at the window blinds and bat balls around the house. Don't ya just love being nocturnal?

Mancat Monday

Happy Monday everyone! My beans were gone to Arkansas all weekend, so I had the house to myself. Needless to say, I trashed it. They don't mind though, 'cause I am just so darn precious. I gave my blog a nice new manly makeover in honor of Mancat Monday and the end of Christmas.
So, an interesting fact, on today's date in 1845, Texas became the 28th state. Which is very exciting, because I love this state! I have never left this state since the day I was born...maybe I should go on vacation....

Saturday Caturday..and a dog too!

Last night, Rachel and Evan went to Evan's sister's house. My cousin Copper (the wolfie) and Oliver (the kitty, outside kitty) live over there. Rachel and Evan brought them their gifts from me and they were so excited. You can see in the picture there that Copper is already gnawing on his rope bone. Oliver is waiting until Christmas day to open his. He just loves Christmas so much, so he opens his presents only on Christmas day. And it's the only day of the year that he is allowed in the house! Rachel tried to get some better pictures of Oliver but he wouldn't be still. Every time she would squat down to take a picture of him, he would run towards her!



Yesterday, I found one of my gifts! Rachel left him (he's a squirrel) on the kitchen table. I thought she was busy in the other room, so I jumped up on the table to have a look-see. I could smell his catnip from the floor. I was just getting him all slobbery, when all-of-a-sudden, Rachel came towards me and shooed me away. She then wrapped him up and put him up high so I can't get to him. Oh well. Now, I know what I have to look forward to on Christmas!

Tuxie Tuesday- Catchin' Up

I would like to begin with an apology for falling behind in my postings. December seems to be quite the busy month!

OK, onto the most exciting news of all!

As most of you probably know, my beans and I live in South East Texas. Our climate is mostly subtropical, with our winters being cold (to us) at around 40 degrees or 50 degrees being the average winter's day temperature. It has snowed here, but never stuck. The last time there was snow on the ground in our city was over three decades ago! Before me or my beans were ever even a thought! Last Wednesday evening when Rachel was getting off work, it had started to snow a bit. She says if you looked into the sky, it looked like a blizzard! But, she didn't think much of it. Didn't think it would stick to the ground. She went home and told Evan, who of course had already heard about the phenomenon from the neighbors. They went outside and it looked like it was just going to turn into rain, no big deal, right? They went to sleep that night with no idea of what was brewing outside.

In the middle of the night, Rachel received a text message from her boss talking about driving safely on icy roads...she wasn't driving, so she went back to sleep.

Rachel and Evan woke up the next morning as usual and Rachel went to look out the front window to see if there was ice built up outside and this is what she saw.

SNOW!!!!!! She hollered for Evan to come see and he came, and they were both in awe! They never thought they would see snow like this in this town!This is the high school near our home.Someone built a tiny snowman, see?Rachel took this while driving to work!And when she got to work she took this one.

Isn't that amazing? We never thought we would see anything like this in our town. It was so beautiful! And the nuttiest thing of all is...It isn't even winter yet! Winter begins December 21st! What is in store for us this winter?

What a beautiful day to be a mancat! It's a cool and comfy 58 degrees outside and inside, it's coziness by the heater! Ahhh. Monday naps by the heater are perfection!

So here is my picture. It's not as exciting as some that I've seen. I think that is probably because we've only had this computer a couple of months, so we haven't really had time to fill it up with random pictures!
The story of this photo, is somewhat heartbreaking. This is my last photo shoot on my wonderfully comfy futon that the beans sold a couple of weeks ago! I used to love laying in the sunshine on that futon! It had the greatest sunny spot for napping. Now, that sunny spot lands right on the floor! Oh, memories!

Foremerly Feral Friday

Today, I am going to talk a little bit about my beans, Rachel and Evan. When I was just a wee boy (hard to imagine, but I really was small and one time!) Evan and Rachel rescued me from a life where I was destined to be feral, eat weird food, get into fights, and have nobody to love me. This means a great deal to me, and I don't know if I express my gratitude to them enough, so THANKS FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE, RACHEL AND EVAN!
But the main reason for my bringing them up is, today the 5th day of December, 2008, after 9 years of courtship, Evan and Rachel are tying the knot!! I am so proud for them. And I believe a quote by Aristotle fits them best
"Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies"

Mancat Monday

Happy Monday Everybody! Today I would like to someone who is very brave, who isn't a man or a cat, but she is even braver than many mancats out there. Her name is Rosa Parks. On this day in 1955 Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat to a white man. That required a lot of bravery but mostly self-respect! I hope one day to be that brave! Let's all remember the changes in this country that were brought about by that single action by that one brave woman!
